Feb 10th: JOHN W. STORMONT LECTURE: From Accordion Roots to Conjunto Music
"Dr. Manuel F. Medrano speaks about his work on the Los Del Valle Oral History Project and explores conjunto music, its connection to the Chinese sheng and the European accordion. Medrano is a Professor Emeritus in History at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) and specializes in Mexican American history and culture. The Los del Valle Oral History Project includes autobiographical sketches and historical accounts through which the uniqueness of the Rio Grande Valley’s people, culture, and heritage is conveyed.

March 5th: JOHN W. STORMONT LECTURE: Discovering Texas' Past Through Archaeology Today
"Instructors with the Texas Archaeological Society’s Geoarchaeology Academy present two 30-minute lectures about archaeological investigations in Texas. Gus Costa presents "Racid Rumors or Native Wisdom? Testing the efficacy of Mosquito Repellents attributed to the indigenous peoples of Texas,” and Ken Lawrence presents, "Geoarchaeological Investigations at 41MS78, a stratified Archaic Site on the Llano River in North Central Texas."

March 31st: JOHN W. STORMONT LECTURE: The Archaeology of Piracy
"Russell K. Skowronek examines archaeological sites and historic records in this illuminating talk about the nature of pirates, pirate politics, and the continuing legacy of pirates. Skowronek is professor of anthropology and history at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and coauthor of several books about the archaeology of piracy. A book-signing will immediately follow the lecture."
