LEGO, fashion designer classes return by popular demand
Add a dash of action, large doses of creativity, adventure and challenges, fold in some teamwork, and you’ve got summer fun at Victoria College’s Kids College. This year, Kids College will take place June 22-25 at VC’s brand new Emerging Technology Complex.
“We are pleased to offer exciting, new summer camps this year, and are thrilled they will be held at the recently-opened Emerging Technology Complex,” said Mary Pullin, VC’s Workforce & Continuing Education program specialist. “These include Lego Expert and Lego Designer for experienced Lego builders, as well as Survival Tactics Camp for kids seeking adventure and unique challenges in survival situations.”
Back by popular demand are the LEGO classes for two age groups. The LEGO Mania class for children ages 5-7 provides opportunities for imagination and hands-on learning under the guidance of a certified educator. LEGO Logo, for kids 8-12, provides hands-on construction allowing participants to build robots, race cars, four-by-four trucks, cranes, pulleys, levers and more. With LEGO Expert, children ages 8-12 can take part in activity-based projects that will incorporate physical science and math all into one.
Another returning favorite is the Fashion Designer class for children 8-12. Collaborative “design team” challenges make this hands-on, minds-on adventure into the world of design very exciting. Youngsters can sketch and design apparel using patterned papers, ribbons, sequins, jewels and other embellishments.
Added to this year’s roster is Survival Tactics Camp for children ages 8-12.Participants will learn how to purify water, signal for help, search for edible food, set up shelter, learn Army chants and more.
FUN Academy for children ages 5-7 is another new offering combining dinosaurs, prehistoric volcanoes, animals, food, transportation and the solar system.
Pullin said there is limited space and encouraged parents to register their children early for Kids College.
All Kids College events will be held in Victoria College’s Emerging Technology Complex, 7403 Lone Tree Road in Victoria.
