Public Opening: Weird & Wonderful Prehistoric Mammals
Dinosaurs weren’t the only creatures living on Earth millions of years ago. Mammals were here too! Mammals first appeared over 200 million years ago, sharing the earth for many years with herds of huge plant-eating dinosaurs. After the extinction of the dinosaurs, mammals became the dominant life form of the next era. Some mammals evolved to become the giants of the land, and some developed wacky features compared to their modern descendants. Learn about these prehistoric mammals at the Museum of the Coastal Bend’s new temporary exhibit "Weird & Wonderful Prehistoric Mammals!" Discover the ancient mammals lifestyles, their curious adaptations, and their interaction with early peoples, through interactive activities, informative exhibits, and interpretations of fossil evidence. A preview reception for museum members will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21. Become a member of the museum today to ensure you receive your invitation to the preview reception, and more benefits of membership: http://www.museumofthecoastalbend.org/museumcoastal/memberships/ The exhibit opens to the public on February 22. Regular viewing hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
