For one of life’s most precious moments, you want to choose a birthing facility that can deliver an experience you’ll never forget.

Womens-Pavilion-sizedAt The Women’s Pavilion (Birth Center) at Citizens Medical Center, we recognize the importance of your baby’s birth and we take pride in making each delivery special for our families.

The Women’s Pavilion Birth Center is a full-service labor and delivery unit with a well-baby nursery as well as a Level III (B) neonatology unit. The unit has been designed for comfort and supports a family-centered approach to childbirth by taking advantage of a home-like setting. Our spacious birthing suites allow mom, baby and dad to stay together as much as possible after the birth.

In birthing emergencies, the last concern for a family should be mom and baby being separated. Rest assured that because Citizens Medical Center is a full-service hospital with critical care for mom and baby under the same roof, the entire family will remain together in the same facility no matter the outcome. We do not transfer moms or babies to other Victoria facilities.

After delivery, if mom needs a break our experienced nursery staff will be happy give her a few hours of rest. Our nursery staff promotes breast-feeding and will offer new mothers instruction and other tips for success. Your newborn will be in good hands while in the care of our NRP and S.T.A.B.L.E certified nurses. In addition, The Women’s Pavilion employs a state-of-the-art security system and precise monitoring to ensure the utmost safety for all of our newborns.

Prenatal Classes

Your journey with The Women’s Pavilion Birth Center begins when mom is 5 months along. We encourage our families to register early to take advantage of the prenatal classes we offer. Prenatal classes are designed to help inform parents about the birthing process, ease fears and increase preparedness.

Classes offered include:

  • Prepared Childbirth – Prepared childbirth covers all aspects of labor, delivery, and post-partum recovery including ways to ease pain along with potential complications.
  • Breastfeeding – The breastfeeding class, which is taught by Citizens Medical Center’s lactation consultant, helps educate parents on the benefits of breastfeeding as well as provide information on breastfeeding techniques.
  • Sibling Class – Becoming a sibling can be a difficult, anxious time. The Sibling Class is designed to help younger children understand what is happening and prepare them for the birth of their sibling.

After delivery, well-babies can stay in the room for 24-rooming, which encourages healthy bonding and uninterrupted nursing.

The Women’s Pavilion includes a centralized newborn nursery with the same comfortable designs as the LDRP rooms. For those newborns requiring specialized care, the Women’s Pavilion is home to a Level III (B) neonatology unit equipped to provide top level critical and medical care for premature infants and newborns.
